Ironmen Lose to Bandits, 6-1
|
The Tampa Bay Bandits topped the Pittsburgh Ironmen, 6-1, in Federal League action at PNC Park. The standout performance belonged to Tampa Bay pitcher and Cape Coral, Florida, native Shane McClanahan. In 6.1 innings, McClanahan surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. With the victory, the Bandits upped their record to 32-17.
Matt Olson had a big 3-run home run for the Bandits in the top of the third inning. With Tampa Bay leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Matthew Liberatore and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Bandits on top, 6-0.
"I like the makeup of this team," said Bandits manager George Hoffman.
