Sluggers Snatch Late-Game, 2-1 Win
|
St Louis and Chicago duked it out and the Sluggers came out victorious.
The Chicago Explorers wasted an impressive 5.1-inning effort from starter Grayson Rodriguez, falling, 2-1, to the St Louis Sluggers at Baron's Ballyard. St Louis reliever Bennett Sousa picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Jason Adam took the loss. Robert Garcia closed the door for St Louis, picking up his 10th save of the year.
St Louis used the timely hitting of Luis Garcia Jr. to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Sluggers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Garcia Jr..
The first-place Sluggers have won 5 straight games.
