Ironmen Hand Cincinnati 5-2 Loss
|
Pittsburgh Ironmen starter Nick Pivetta turned in a top-notch performance against the Cincinnati Stars at Great American Ball Park. The result was a win for the Ironmen, 5-2. Alex Vesia, now 2-1, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Andres Munoz earned the save for Pittsburgh, his 12th of the year.
Bryan Reynolds came through with a big-time hit for Pittsburgh. The designated hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 5-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Said losing manager Pat Padula: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."
The setback makes Cincinnati 29-24.
