Bombers Win at Pittsburgh, 3-1
|
Bronx pitcher Jack Leiter had a large part in his team beating the Pittsburgh Ironmen, 3-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Leiter, now 5-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 2, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Bronx raised its record to 29-26 with the win.
Bronx used a well-timed hit by Gavin Lux to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Bombers ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Bronx manager Scott Gessford.
