Roses Send Portland Home with 5-2 Loss
|
Oakland beat Portland on the strength of starting pitcher Spencer Schwellenbach's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. Oakland is now 36-21, 4 games up in the Union League Western Division.
Oakland shortstop Trevor Story helped the Roses go up, 1-0, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Story hit a run-scoring single off Portland pitcher Thomas Harrington.
"Spencer is a tough competitor," said Oakland manager Herb Pilgrim.
