Snakeyes Suffer 3-2 Road Loss
The Carolina Riptides eked out a 3-2 win versus the San Diego Snakeyes at IBM Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Grant Holmes. He was terrific. In 7 innings, Holmes surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Peter Fairbanks sewed up the save, his 11th.

The Riptides got a big at-bat from second baseman Otto Lopez. For the game, Lopez was 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Carolina a 3-2 lead.

Carolina manager Rob Hansen said his team played a "no nonsense" game.

Carolina is now 33-26, San Diego 30-29.
