Dragons Down Explorers, 7-3
|
The San Francisco Dragons picked up a win at Pac Bell Park, dropping the Chicago Explorers, 7-3. Blake Snell, who finished 2nd in the FL in strikeouts with 208 in 2019, was the difference-maker. San Francisco, at 36-23, is 6 games up in the Federal League Western Division.
Shohei Ohtani had a big solo home run for the Dragons in the bottom of the sixth inning. With San Francisco leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from Grayson Rodriguez, who finished 5th in the UL in strikeouts with 205 last year, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 21st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dragons ahead, 3-1.
"Blake just settled in and did what he does," said San Francisco manager Joe Turnage.
