Casas Hits 3 Dingers, Sluggers Win, 7-6
|
Due in large part to first baseman Triston Casas, the St Louis Sluggers sunk the Phoenix Firebirds, 7-6. Casas belted 3 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring three times. John Schreiber, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Bennett Sousa recorded his 2nd save for St Louis.
Casas had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a full count fastball from Dietrich Enns, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Sluggers a 7-6 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Casas.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Casas.
The first-place Sluggers have a one-game lead in their division.
