Phalanx Drop Sting, 6-5
|
The Philadelphia Phalanx knocked off the Seattle Sting, 6-5, in Federal League action at Citizens Bank Park. Philadelphia pitcher and Long Beach, California, native Ricky Tiedemann had an outstanding performance. Tiedemann got the win, improving to 2-6. He gave up 2 hits and walked 4 over 5 innings. He allowed 2 runs. After today's action, Philadelphia sits at 25-34, while Seattle falls to 33-26.
Bo Naylor had a big bases-clearing double for the Phalanx in the bottom of the third inning. With Philadelphia leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from fireballing right-hander Jose Soriano and swatted a double to center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Phalanx ahead, 6-0.
"It was a solid team effort," said Tiedemann after the game.
