Washington Topples Pittsburgh, 5-2

Washington and Pittsburgh duked it out and the Hitmen came out victorious.
The Washington Hitmen locked up a win at PNC Park, knocking off the Pittsburgh Ironmen, 5-2. On the mound for Washington was right-hander Christian Scott. He played a major role in the triumph. Scott, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Adrian Morejon recorded his 11th save for Washington.
Rhylan Thomas had a big solo home run for the Hitmen in the top of the fifth inning. With Washington leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Matthew Liberatore and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Hitmen on top, 3-1.
"Christian did a nice job," said Hitmen manager John Anderson.
The third-place Ironmen have dropped 5 straight games.
