Carolina picked up a win at IBM Field, bumping off the Cincinnati Stars, 4-1. Pitcher Dylan Cease was a major reason the Riptides emerged victorious. Mason Montgomery notched his 2nd save in 4 chances. The Union League Eastern Division-leading Riptides have a record of 36-26.

The Riptides got a big at-bat from designated hitter Brett Baty. For the game, Baty was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Carolina a 3-1 lead.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Carolina manager Rob Hansen.
