Langford, Roses March to 5-1 Victory
|
Oakland and St Louis got after it at Busch Stadium.
In the 5-1 Oakland win over St Louis, the impact of Wyatt Langford was substantial. Langford, who leads the UL in runs scored with 81, was 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Spencer Schwellenbach earned the win for Oakland. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 9 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 10-2.
Oakland designated hitter Teoscar Hernandez contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 90th hit of the season and put the Roses ahead, 5-1.
"We came in and did what we needed to do," said Oakland manager Herb Pilgrim.
The losing skid has reached 6 games for St Louis.
