Denver Upended by Seattle, 8-2
|
The Denver Bears could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Seth Lugo into a win. Instead, the Seattle Sting prevailed, 8-2. Lugo threw 5.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Tanner Banks claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. His record stands at 1-0. Denver, at 16-22, has lost 4 straight.
Seattle needed the clutch hitting of Gage Workman to seal the deal. The shortstop swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Sting on top, 5-2. For the game, Workman had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We were firing on all cylinders," said Sting manager Jesus Cardiel.
