Sluggers Bank 9-1 Win
|
The St Louis Sluggers and starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara stifled the New York offense en route to a comfortable 9-1 win at Shark Stadium. Alcantara, now 2-1, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. By defeating New York, the first-place Sluggers improved to 18-20.
Making an impact for St Louis was second baseman Luis Garcia Jr.. He drilled a double off Mitch Keller in the top of the first. For the game, Garcia Jr. was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk.
"It was a tough day, no getting around it," said losing manager Nick Ruport.
