Explorers Come Up Short at Toronto, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Toronto Hogs and the Chicago Explorers, Dustin May, who finished 5th in the FL in wins with 14 last year, proved to be the difference. The Toronto right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Hogs win. The Explorers, at 19-20, have lost 5 in a row.
Toronto second baseman Luis Arraez contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a curveball to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 41st hit of the season and put the Hogs ahead, 2-0.
In postgame comments to the Toronto Today, Arraez said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
