Springer, Bulldogs Wallop Dragons, 13-1
|
The Georgia Bulldogs trumped the San Francisco Dragons, 13-1, at Pac Bell Park. Georgia designated hitter George Springer was terrific. He was 3-5 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Bryce Miller, the winner, improved to 4-2. He held San Francisco to 1 run on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. San Francisco's current losing streak is now 5 games.
With Georgia leading 3-1 in the top of the fifth, Springer hit a fastball from Shohei Ohtani for a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Bulldogs ahead, 6-1.
"We didn't put our best foot forward tonight," said losing manager Joe Turnage.
