Behind an impressive start by Spencer Strider, Oakland beat Phoenix, 4-2. Oakland leads the Union League Western Division by 5½ games.

Third Baseman Edmundo Sosa made an impact for Oakland, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Reid Detmers in the bottom of the second. For the contest, Sosa went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles.

Phoenix manager Pat McGoldrick said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
