Snakeyes Take Down Hitmen, 5-4
|
The San Diego Snakeyes did just enough to sneak past the Washington Hitmen, 5-4, at Petco Park. San Diego pitcher Tatsuya Imai, in particular, had a standout performance. With the win over Washington, the Snakeyes improved to 22-24.
Dominican Republic-born George Valera came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Snakeyes trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to right to put San Diego on top.
"When Tatsuya's on, he's on," said San Diego manager Kelly Woolsey.
