August's Premier Pitcher Announced by CAL

The Pitcher of the Month has been chosen and the California League trophy went to San Mateo hurler, Bryan Sammons.
During the month, Sammons was impressive with a 1.42 ERA and 6 wins and no losses. In 38 innings he struck out 48 and gave up 29 hits and 17 walks.
Looking at his season stats, Sammons has won 14 and lost 5, collecting 175 strikeouts and 59 walks in 147.1 innings with a 4.15 ERA.

Fitzgerald Takes Home CAL Top Batter Award

In August, Merced Marines second baseman Ryan Fitzgerald claimed the California League Batter of the Month award.
The 32-year-old swung with confidence, hitting .363 with 9 home runs, 38 RBIs and 22 runs scored.
Currently Fitzgerald is batting .347 with 34 home runs and 132 RBIs.
