Great Stroke: Jenkins Gets 5 Hits

It was a parade of hits for Jeremiah Jenkins of the St. Lucie Sand Gnats at Ballpark of Tampa.
Connecting almost every time he went to the plate, Jenkins finished the day with a total of 5 hits in 5 at-bats. His strong individual effort propelled the Sand Gnats to a win, 7-6.
"Jenkins was really good and we were really bad," groaned Tigers manager . "Next time he's that hot, we'll just walk him."
Jeremiah Jenkins singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Ryan Verdugo in the 9th.
Jenkins is currently batting .324 with 6 home runs and 29 RBIs.

Bad News for Dunedin, Dalton Pence Hurt

The season is finished for Dalton Pence of the Dunedin Danger. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Danger starting pitcher suffered a ruptured disc while throwing a pitch in a recent game against the Gainesville Gators. Team doctors said it would take at least 9 months to heal.
To date this season, Pence has registered 10 starts, 2-2 won-lost mark, 5.55 ERA, 47 IP, 50 strikeouts and 26 walks. Opposing teams have hit .314 against him.
