Modesto Miracle Win Top Spot in Midwest League Central Division

For the 10th time, the Modesto Miracle are champions of the Midwest League Central Division.
"Winning never gets old," said starting pitcher Ben Shields. "This is definitely the way you want to go into the postseason."
In the end, the club currently has a 74-57 record, and have won the division convincingly as they look for the franchise's 3rd Round 2.

MWL Premier Pitcher is Grand Rapids's Merryweather

The Midwest League announced the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award. It went to relief ace Julian Merryweather of Grand Rapids for his outstanding work on the mound.
During the month, Merryweather stood out with 6 saves in 8 save opportunities, a 1.46 ERA and 4 wins and no losses. In 12.1 innings he struck out 21 and gave up 9 hits and 3 walks.
This season, Merryweather has made 43 relief appearances and has 29 saves. His record is 7-1 with 70 strikeouts in 44.2 innings with a 3.02 ERA.

Red-Hot August Lands Aparicio Batting Prize in MWL

For a rookie just breaking in, Miguel Aparicio certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the MWL Batter of the Month award for August.
The 27-year-old center fielder for the Fort Wayne Bucks hit .453 with 8 home runs, 29 RBIs and 30 runs scored.
So far this year in 107 games, Aparicio is hitting .370 with 26 home runs, 128 RBIs and 110 runs scored.
