Maciejewski Is August's Top Starter

The hottest hurler in the South Atlantic League last month was Josh Maciejewski of the Augusta Greenjackets. He caught the attention of everybody in the league with some eye-catching stats, good enough to win the SAL Pitcher of the Month.

In August, Maciejewski starred with an impressive 5-0 record. In 6 starts he gave up 43 base hits and struck out 40 in 33 innings with a 2.73 ERA.

This season to date, Maciejewski has a record of 10 wins and 7 losses with a 4.03 ERA, has appeared in 26 games and struck out 144 in 134 innings.
Port Royal's Mancini Collects August Batting Honor

Trey Mancini battered South Atlantic League pitchers all August and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around South Atlantic League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 34-year-old Mancini told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 26 games, Mancini hit .389 with 11 home runs, 30 RBIs and scored 21 runs.

Mancini is swinging at a .384 pace on the year with 30 home runs, 108 RBIs and 94 runs scored. He has played in 101 games.
South Atlantic League Western Division Title Goes to Bobcats

Members of the Sarasota Bobcats proudly donned their South Atlantic League Western Division championship apparel tonight, after winning the division for the 6th time in franchise history.

"We don't take an accomplishment like this for granted. There are some good teams in our division, so it means a lot to come out on top," said catcher Pedro Pages. "We didn't know what sort of year it would take, but at 85-44, we're happy with the division title."

The Bobcats will be trying to bring the 3rd South Atlantic League championship to Sarasota.
