Admirals Capture Appalachian League South

Let loose, New River fans, your team has won the Appalachian League South.
The New River Admirals have officially captured the crown, the 6th in franchise history.
"We've got a team that can do it all and we think do it just as well as anyone in the league," said third baseman Hunter Hines. "I hope no one is taking us lightly once the playoffs start."
Certainly the team's division crown will garner them a fair bit of respect, as the 43-21 record puts the club in position for the franchise's 4th Appalachian League championship.
"You never get tired of being in the playoffs," said the team's manager. "This is what you play for."

Red-Hot King Scorches Generals

The Johnson City Eagles stopped the Jackson Generals by a score of 13-4 at Johnson City Grounds, with the lion's share of the credit going to catcher Will King. The 22-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," King said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
King did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Generals.
"Not much that I can say," offered Jackson manager . "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Will King singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Cayman Goode in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Chase Allsup in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.
This year, King is hitting .357, produced 15 RBIs and 4 home runs, scored 15 times and gotten on base at a .486 rate.

New River Starter August's Best Pitcher
Tuesday, September 1st , 2026
In August New River starter Sterling Patick mystified Appalachian League hitters and carried off the Pitcher of the Month honors by chalking up a 5-0 record in 6 starts.
The 21-year-old Patick added 48 strikeouts in 35.2 innings and 20 walks to his season record and compiled a 3.28 ERA. Opposing batters hit .206 against him.
This year, Patick has compiled a 6-3 mark with a 6.06 ERA.
